How Millenials Killed Dairy Milk (and how it isn't a big deal)

Well, the largest milk producer in America, Dean Foods, filed for bankruptcy after 94 years today. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing is up to you and whether that's the reason they filed for bankruptcy or not is also up to you, but we can all agree that milk consumption is on the decline. Chart showing the decline of milk consumption from 2000 to 2019. (source: CNBC) Now, why is that, you may be asking? Well, again, that's up to you. Many factors are playing into it, but most are blaming it on a certain group everyone likes to mock; Nope, not the baby boomers, the millennials. Most of this has to do with the rising animal rights movement, and, yknow, in most of these big farms, especially dairy ones, they don't treat the animals that great. In fact, there's video proof that Dean Foods literally burns their cows and hit them with pipes, but whatever. Most millennials don't like this kind of stuff, and opt to buy plant based milk instead, such as almo...

A history on the Curse of Tippecanoe

So, the 2020 election is coming up, and that's going to be interesting. Will Trump stay in office for another 4 years, or will someone new step up? Nobody knows for sure yet. But, this year is special. As it apparently is a year where a curse will take place. The Curse of Tippecanoe. Also known as "Tecumseh's Curse", or the "20 Year President Curse", the curse is said to strike on every election on years equally divisible by 20, since the year 1840. The curse has a long history, so in this weekly marshmallow, we'll dive into every occurrence during this strange curse. The curse itself Named in a Ripley's Believe it or Not book, the curse is named after a famous battle by the ninth president, William Henry Harrison, the Battle of Tippecanoe during battles and wars against Native Americans and the leader of a tribe, Tecumseh, in 1811. Harrison, who was governor of the Indiana Territory at the time, used the battles success to boost his popularity d...

That one Time Vermont was a Country

Yes you read that title right. Vermont, the northeastern US state bordering Canada, was it's own country. Location of Vermont For 14 years, the state of Vermont split off from Britain and made it's own country. And those years were 1777 to 1791. In January 1777 representatives from 28 towns in Vermont met together and decided to make a central government and declare independence from every country that claimed them (Britain, France and the state of New York in the US). These people were known as the "Green Mountain Boys", but the name "Vermont" wasn't the first choice for a name. Flag The History The original name chosen was "New Connecticut", but only a few months later they changed the name to Vermont. Soon after the United States gained independence in 1781, they actually recognized it, and allowed them to join America as a state if they ever wanted to. From the beginning, they wanted to join or be in a political union with the ...

Outrageous and Weird Fast Food Knock-Offs from Around the World 2

Dairy Queen? What about the Dairy Fairy? Oh boy! The sequel! If you remember, last season I made a post about this with this quote at the end: "So that's all the fast food knock-offs I could find. But there's more, oh there's more, there might be a part 2 to this." Well, there is now. Today we will be looking at MORE fast food knock offs! We'll be looking at two new restaurant's knock-offs, and three from last time. So without further ado... Why eat at McDonald's when you can eat at... Maybe that's the founder's name... Looks like we're starting with this bad boy again. McDonald's has so many knock-offs that It had to be one of the three restaurants for me to bring back for this one. Up there is Al Donald. Maybe it's not a knock-off, maybe it's just the owner's name... Eh, it still has the similar logo, so it is a knock-off! Anyway, there's more, such as As Burger, Mr Mahmoud, and even a bootleg McDon...

Throwback Marshmallow: Straw Hat Pizza

In summer 1959, Surfing and beaches were the craze of the time in west coast California. Across highways sat different burger and other restaurant carts, selling food through drive thru windows. However, a popular icon was about to rock California... for about 20 years. This is episode 2 of Throwback Marshmallow, on Straw Hat Pizza. 1959: Introduction The first Straw Hat Pizza opened it's doors on July 10, 1959. It's pizza was nothing like other pizza; it has layered, flaky crust, light toppings and 6 types of cheese. It was crispier, it was fresher, and it was tastier, making the West Coast crave for more. Little did they know, it was a sensation to last decades. 1960-1969: Expansion The first Straw Hat Pizzas were modest and normal but a good hangout spot with it's hard seating, red carpets and lively wallpapers. Along with it's menu and ice cold beer, each establishment included old time movies, horse rides, and even local bands playing there. The slogan ...

What Will They Name Android Q?

Android Pie's logo, The ninth version of Android. The other 8 versions. So, Android P is finally out, with the name being Pie. I honestly thought it would be Popsicle, but whatever. But now, with Google's "Alphabetical Order Sweets" names for each version, It makes it really hard to pick one for Android Q. Heck, for Android N they had to get help from the internet to pick Nougat. Also the naming for these versions made me name the The Weekly Marshmallow seasons how they are. So in this post, we'll be looking at what I can come up with for Q. Next year I guess I'll have to do one for R, but not now. But anyway, here we go. Quiche Quiche is probably the first thing you think of when you think of food that starts with Q. That means it could be a nice idea for Android Q, right? Not exactly. You see, Google names them after Sweets and not normal food, which could be a problem for Quiche. The food usually is filled with cheese and bacon, but desert v...

Well, Season 1 of The Weekly Marshmallow is over, and I'm going to make a name for each season based off of breakfast items. Season 1 is known as "Apple Pie Edition" because I couldn't think of anything else. Apple Pie existed from the creation of the site in November 2017 to the revival in September 2018.
